Greenburgh resident Sidney Crockett, 42, was arraigned on Monday, Nov. 4, and charged in a 15-count indictment that includes two counts of rape, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, it is alleged that Crockett repeatedly strangled, physically, and sexually assaulted a woman he knew in a White Plains residence. The two had been in a relationship, according to the indictment.
After the attack, it is alleged that Crockett’s victim went to an area hospital, notified the police and an investigation was launched, leading them to Crockett.
Crockett was charged with:
- Two counts of first-degree rape;
- Six counts of criminal sexual act;
- Three counts of strangulation;
- Two counts of sexual abuse;
- One County of assault;
- One county of criminal obstruction of breathing.
Crockett is scheduled to appear back in court in December.
